Volunteering at Loganlea Community Centre

Loganlea Community Centre relies on the incredible support of volunteers to ensure that we can open the doors each day and make our programs happen!

Program Facilitators, Administration Team Members, Handy people – Loganlea Community Centre truly wouldn’t be able to provide its life changing front line programming without the incredible support of its volunteers!

Maintenance Person
  • You should be handy and good with basic tools. You probably also have a love of fixing things! You should be familiar with basic maintenance tasks.
  • Do it yourself experience is suitable. You are passionate about making a difference and want to contribute your amazing skills and talents to the local community.
  • This would be a great role for someone recently retired or looking to meet some new people. ( JobSeekers wanting to meet their mutual obligation requirements are encouraged to apply)
  • Tasks include things like minor repairs, painting, gardening, general tidy up, maintenance of centre property including chairs and tables and ensuring the general safety of items onsite as overseen by management. 

This role can be flexible, however would be best suited to someone who can volunteer a few mornings per week.

Community Dinner Coordinator

Each Thursday night, Loganlea Community Centre hosts the neighbourhood for dinner for one of our weekly Community Meals. 

These meals are great for those that are experiencing social isolation to have an opportunity to get out of the house and find friendship and companionship with their neighbours. It also provides an opportunity for those experiencing disadvantage the opportunity to come down and enjoy a free delicious meal surrounded by friends and neighbours. 
(Personal hygience facilities and other supports are available).

Run in conjunction with our friends, Save Church, Loganlea Community Centre Community Meals truly make a real difference to members of the community for all different reasons. 

The Role
As this program is a collaborative one, Loganlea Community Centre is looking for a Community Meal Coordinator to step up and coordinate, facilitate and administer this program in conjunction with Save Church. 

Tasks
* Administration – ensuring that LCAI safety and operational requirements are met, including sign in, COVID Safe requirements and completing Program Reports. 
* Facilitation – Set up, pack down, food preparation and serving, meeting with neighbours and offering support and assistance where required, case intake for further support. 
* Marketing – assisting with Web & Social Media management, assisting with promotion and marketing of the program and helping to come up with new and creative ideas to help the program grow and develop. 
* Funding & Fundraising – assist when necessary by providing key insights into the program, assisting to develop cases for support by gathering stories and photos from participants and attendees, being aware of key messages to assist with the delivery of Loganlea Community Centre awareness and growth. 

This role will need to be filled by someone who is available from 5pm  – 7pm Thursday nights and who is excited to have role ownership and coordinate the program for Loganlea Community Centre.

Community Lunch Coordinator

Each Tuesday afternoon and one Saturday per month, Loganlea Community Centre hosts the neighbourhood for  lunch for one of our weekly Community Meals. 

These meals are great for those that are experiencing social isolation to have an opportunity to get out of the house and find friendship and companionship with their neighbours. It also provides an opportunity for those experiencing disadvantage the opportunity to come down and enjoy a free delicious meal surrounded by friends and neighbours. 
(Personal hygiene facilities and other supports are available).

Tuesday Lunch is run entirely by Loganlea Community Centre and Saturday Lunches are run in conjunction with our friends, Dharma Seva Mission – Loganlea Community Centre Community Meals truly make a real difference to members of the community for all different reasons. 

The Role
Loganlea Community Centre is looking for a Community Meal Coordinator to step up and coordinate, facilitate and administer the Tuesday Lunch program and facilitate the Saturday Lunch program in conjunction with Seva Dharma Mission. 

Tasks: 
* Planning & Preparation – planning the upcoming program each month including researching nutritional recipes that meet various dietary requirements, arranging shopping, storage and managing food safety. 
* Administration – ensuring that LCAI safety and operational requirements are met, including sign in, COVID Safe requirements and completing Program Reports. 
* Facilitation – Set up, pack down, food preparation and serving, meeting with neighbours and offering support and assistance where required, case intake for further support. 
* Marketing – assisting with Web & Social Media management, assisting with promotion and marketing of the program and helping to come up with new and creative ideas to help the program grow and develop. 
* Funding & Fundraising – assist when necessary by providing key insights into the program, assisting to develop cases for support by gathering stories and photos from participants and attendees, being aware of key messages to assist with the delivery of Loganlea Community Centre awareness and growth. 

This role will need to be filled by someone who is available from 11:00am – 2:00pm Tuesdays 
and the following Saturdays for 2021

  • 9th October
  • 13th November
  • 11th December
